Hey everybody! I would love for you to think about the visits we have made in the last couple of weeks and what it has meant to you. I want to add some of your thoughts and ideas to the blog. I’m always open to suggestions and comments!
I really can’t tell you all how much I appreciate you and how amazed I am at the group of new friends that God is putting together.
So, think about some quick thoughts and if you’d like me to post them, email it to me at courtney@courtneyyancey.com
Y’all ROCK.
An incredible woman, Stacey, teaches an art class at Stewpot every Tuesday morning. We asked her if we could come and give hats to her class. Once again, the blessing was ours.
We were able to attend a worship service with them and a lady named Ms. Geneva Cain sang like I’ve never heard anyone sing. It was beautiful and soulful and fantastic. I could have listened to her and Bro. Don’s piano playing all day long.
P.S. Thanks to Leigh James for these great pics!
Last Sunday was one of the first really cool days that we have had this year. We went with a group of people who have been loving on a downtown community for over a year. We placed the hats on the ground while the rest of the group passed out sandwiches, chips and drinks. We always want to give the chance for people to choose the hat they like the most.
One of the most moving moments was when we were leaving, and we were about three blocks away, and we saw one of the men putting on his hat.

We had an incredible opportunity presented to us Thursday night at our meeting. Charla, one of the ministers at Calvary Baptist Church, came and talked to us about the great group of kids that come to their church twice a week. They have a group of 70 kids who, she said, would love some new hats. We went downtown and took some great lasagna and were able to serve them dinner and let them pick the hat of their choice.
Kudos to all the ladies and kids who went to serve – it ALWAYS ends up that we are much more blessed when we leave than when we got there. These kids rock! They all came up to us and hugged us and thanked us for the hats. It just doesn’t get better than that.
