Hey everybody! We are so excited about 2010 for Hot•Heads! We are going to have a “Sit & Knit” on January 14th at Jan Forbes house from 7pm to 9pm. This is only for knitters who have been knitting for Hot•Heads. If you’d like to attend a class, we have one scheduled for January 19th. See Hot•Head Classes for more information.
Alumni knitters, please bring any completed hats or any yarn that you may not have used yet. Also, BYOS&D (Bring your own snack and drinks!) We will knit and visit and Jessica Ragan will be talking to us about our next project and how you can get involved.
We will also have bags and tee shirts there if you’d like to purchase those. Bags are $18 and Tees are $15. Checks made to Hot•Heads, Inc.
Hey Everybody! I’m pumped about the new tee shirts and bags! They are in stock and are super great. They are available for pick up at Giftees which is located right off of Old Fannin Road behind the Farmer’s Market. Frankie, the owner, is kind enough to take up money for us, so please bring cash or check made payable to Hot•Heads, Inc. Bags are $18 and Tees are $15. Same Hot•Head concept applies here…buy one, we will give a hat to one in need! Our hope is that the bags and tees will help fund our next two projects! Giftees is open from 9-6 Mon-Sat.
Available in sizes Small to 3X. $15 Each.
Sturdy Canvas Bags $18 each
Bag is big enough for all four looms and two skeins of yarn!
Susan and Paula (a.k.a. ‘Lil Bit) told me they were going to hear Kari Jobe at Broadmoor Church in Madison last week. I was so excited for them and sad for me because I was out of town. Anyway, they texted me later on that night saying that they had given Kari and her boyfriend Hot•Heads! I love it!
For those who don’t know about Kari, check her out at www.karijobe.com
Coming in January – – – Hot•Head Classes! We will be offering classes for any group who wants to learn to knit on the loom. Get a group of friends together and we will come and teach your group. It’s tons of fun and will come with a warning….it is ADDICTING! Our hope is that the classes we will teach will help fund our Spring project (more info coming soon). Remember, the bags and tee shirts will be available at the classes, too! Thanks so much for your support of Hot•Heads!
I’m not sure that I can describe what it was like to see 150 teenagers dancing on the stage wearing hot•heads. Crazy good. I loved it. It brought incredible peace and happiness and contentment to my heart – even satisfaction. There is something very satisfying about seeing a huge project come to fruition. But, nothing compared to holding a baby girl in your arms and placing a hat over her braids. Humbled. I wanted to give her everything. I wanted to take her home and make her part of our family. I wanted life for her to be what I know as good. I want her to know the Best Gift.
I’ve used this term so much in the past seven years that I have become immune to the original meaning. The Best Gift. What does that really mean? For most of us, it is something different at different times. I know that I am just beginning to get this concept of who God is and how BIG He is. It’s pretty much mind blowing for me. Every minute of Him changing me and shaping me into something that I’m ordinarily not. And I’m thankful for it. That’s plain crazy.
So, this whole gift thing is radical beyond reason. What is this gift? Who is it? Who sent it? Why did they? I think there is one word that covers all of these questions…Love. Yep. Use it as a noun or a verb or whatever part of speech you’d like. It’s just plain love. Something that I find very difficult to comprehend most of the time.
Yet, this is the complete desire of the hearts of the people involved with hot•heads. Love. This four-letter word. Love. So, what is THE Best Gift? He is. What is He? He is LOVE. What is His command to me? To Love Him and to Love others. He makes this my heart’s desire.
Exciting News! We ordered great bags and tees today for hot•heads! The bags are large, sturdy canvas bags with a black bottom and black handles. There is a large pocket on the front – perfect for your scissors and needles. It is imprinted with the hot•head logo! The tees are black short-sleeved with hot pink and white logo. They should be in by the end of next (we hope). The bags are going to be $20 and the tees are going to be $15. Please let us know if you would like to pre-order and we will reserve one for you. Shirts are size S – 3X. By the way, we want you to know that when you purchase one of these, we will give a hot•head. The same concept applies here! I can’t wait!!! YAY!
It was fantastic to see the kids picking out their XA hats! They were really excited about it. They really look great on all of the kids and on stage! I was able to share with them about Hot•Heads and how because they had purchased a hat, we were going to give hats to guests on Thursday night. They applauded. What sweet, giving hearts these kids have. It’s been a pleasure to make all of these hats for some great kids and some very deserving guests. I’m a little sad that this project is coming to an end.
Well, guys, I’m going to take this one as the glass is half full. We have about 100 more people expected at Best Gift Preview Night. I truly am glad about this, and I think it’s a great thing. Of course, we want to be able to have hats for all of them, so if you have any, please drop them off at Courtney’s house or bring to BG practice on Tuesday night.
Thanks guys! So excited about this week!
Well, I have just spent the evening with a fantastic group of ladies who spent their time doing lots of “grunt” work. Sewing on tags definitely isn’t the most glamorous (or fun) thing to do, but it made it a lot easier to spend time visiting, laughing and sewing! Thanks, girls (and Chris!).
We believe that we have enough hats for XA and gift hats! How incredible is that? Really incredible. None of this would have been accomplished without each and every person that has chosen to participate. I’m so excited about what has been accomplished in a few short months. I can’t wait to see what’s next!!!
Keep on knitting! We have several ideas for projects for the new year. If you have any suggestions, please let us know.
Calling all Hot•Heads to PLEASE turn in their hats that are completed asap! We still have to put on tags and add flowers, buttons, etc.
You can drop them off at Courtney’s house or you can bring them to the choir room on Wednesday night and give them to Jan Forbes or Amelia Metcalf.
Please pass the word via text that we need to get these in!
Thanks so much for your faithfulness! Best Gift if right around the corner!
