Hot•Heads™ Recipients

1.  Vicksburg Children’s Shelter – provides services for runaways, neglected, homeless, and emergency services.  Have on average 12 kids(school age) in house at a time.

2.  Haven House Family Shelter (Domestic Violence Shelter) provides emergency shelter, food, counseling, referrals, childcare and transportation.  On average they have 5 adults and 6 to 8 kids and teens.  Staff of shelter totals 13.

3.  Mountain of Faith Women’s Restoration Shelter provides shelter for women and teens and most of their clients go to work each day.  Women and teens = 12      Staff = 4

4.  River City Rescue provides shelter and meals for homeless men in downtown Vicksburg.

5.  Guatemalan Church in Canton – families who meet together in a trailer in Canton.  50 people.

6.  Hats for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.  We are going to be knitting hats for chemotherapy patients.  We are going to participate in the Race for a Cure (ww5.komen.org) in April.  Passed out 125 hats!

7.  Jackson Oncology for some of their patients undergoing chemotherapy.  They have hats available for patients to choose.  Paula called them on Monday and asked how we could get involved.  They said that their stock was very low (only ten hats) and that they would love to have Hot•Heads to offer their patients free of charge.  Yay!

8.  Matt’s House Emergency Shelter for Women and Children provides shelter for homeless women and children who have no other place to go.  http://www.stewpot.org/services_mattshouse.html

9.  Stewpot - The very heart of Stewpot is the noon meal its staff and volunteers serve each day of the year. This meal serves as the center of each day as well as the heart of the Stewpot philosophy. Rich and poor, black and white … all God’s children come together over a nourishing meal. More than 120 people a day are physically and spiritually fed in the Community Kitchen and 50 meals are delivered to shut-ins in the area. Volunteers are always needed to lend a hand in the Stewpot Community Kitchen. www.stewpot.org/

10.  City Church – a church started by a couple who started going to an apartment complex and feeding the people who lived there.  They now have 130 people from the apartments attending church at a nearby school.  Through meeting their basic needs, God’s love shone brightly!

11.  New Jerusalem Baptist Church – This church is located in downtown Jackson and Hot•Heads has delivered hats and they service the shelter where we sent the sock, t-shirts, and underwear.

12.  Perm, Russia.  Sent to Missionary Janet Holloway for her to distribute as she sees fit.  She works with people in orphanages, jails, and of course, her neighborhood.

13.  Baptist Hospital – gave 10 hats to the oncology department so their patients heads could be warm during chemo.

14..  South Africa.  125 hats sent with Missionary Teresa and her husband for them to distribute in an orphanage and the surrounding neighborhoods.
